Cal-SOAP at Anzar

South County Cal-SOAP

South County Cal-SOAP (California Student Opportunity and Access Program) provides college advising and support services to students at seven local high schools: Sobrato, Live Oak, Mt. Madonna, Gilroy, Christopher, Hollister, and Anzar.

The program helps students understand and pursue the opportunities that a post-secondary education can provide. Cal-SOAP advisors work with thousands of students each year to build college awareness, strengthen academic preparation, and guide students through the college planning process.

For students who may feel unsure about their academic eligibility for college or concerned about the cost of higher education, Cal-SOAP helps open doors. Advisors provide guidance, resources, and encouragement to help students explore college options, improve academic readiness, and access financial aid so they can pursue the college pathway that best fits their goals.

At Anzar High School, Cal-SOAP advisors collaborate closely with our Advisory program, reinforcing our shared commitment to helping every student reach their full potential and succeed in college-preparatory coursework.

Cal-SOAP Support at Anzar

Anzar’s Cal-SOAP advisor is Alexis Chavarria. She works directly with students and families to provide support with:

  • FAFSA and financial aid applications
  • SAT registration
  • Community college applications
  • Scholarship searches and applications
  • Individual guidance for seniors navigating the college planning process

We are excited to welcome Alexis to Anzar and appreciate the support she provides to our students as they prepare for life after high school.
